The slopes steepen briefly above the Campaloup pastures, leading to the vast valleys facing the Écrins National Park and the broad summit of the Grandes Buffes. A wide variety of options awaits you for the descent, from the steep slopes of the north-facing sides to the rolling snowfields facing La Meije.

The illustrious family of 18th-century cartographers recognized its significance, so much so that they lent their name to this summit with its breathtaking view, one of the most spectacular panoramas in the Oisans region! From a wild vantage point overlooking the Romanche Valley, dotted with the chapels of St. Géraud and the pastoral hamlet of Cluy, the ascent leads you gently up to the Col de Cluy and then to the summit of Grandes Buffes, the first climb of this wild adventure. A first descent takes us across the Col de Grange Pellorce, where we put our skins back on and tackle the second climb: towards La Croix de Cassini. At the edge of the Sarenne Valley, overlooking the Romanche and Ferrand Valleys, the view is magnificent! The various descent routes offer a wide choice of slopes and terrain, and will be punctuated by a final re-skinning before gliding back down to civilization…
